This was really easy, fast, and it makes a really cute gift if you frame it!

You need:

non-toxic paint (acrylic/tempera)

paper

paintbrush

your child’s picture

I put 3 different color paints on a plate.  Then I folded the paper in half lengthwise and opened it (so I would know where to put the hand/foot prints).  I strapped her into her booster seat so we didn’t have to deal with paint all over the floor.  Dipped her foot in the paint and pressed onto the paper.  I used a shoebox as a hard surface so the prints would look nice and clean.  Repeat with other foot and hands.  Then I painted the body and the date we did it.  I also outlined the ‘wings’ so it looked more like a butterfly.  Last cut out a picture of your child’s face and glue onto the head.  It turned out great because her thumbprints look like antennae!  We did one like this last year with handprints for flower petals and footprints for leaves – we put the picture as the center of the flower and framed it.  We gave them to grandparents as part of their Christmas gifts.
