Plastic Bottle Craft!

This is a really easy craft to do with your kids! My daughter is almost 2, so she needed LOTS of help…but it’s not super messy. I save containers of different sizes to use for various things. Today I used a mini coke bottle.
You Need:
1 mini coke bottle
water
blue food coloring
vegetable oil
glitter
duct tape
First, fill the bottle 1/2 or a little more than 1/2 way with water. Then have your child add blue (or whatever color they like) food coloring to the water. Next pour vegetable oil until it reaches the top of the bottle – do not fill the neck (where the cap covers). Have your child pour in glitter. Close tightly and tape lid shut with duct tape. Easy!

I was supposed to go to Homeland, but I only made it to Target. I am really proud of myself tho! I saved almost $47!!! That is only coupon savings. Almost everything I got was on sale as well. Here are some of my best deals:
Pampers Cruisers (x4)- On Sale for $8.50 (normally 9.99) – $1/1 coupon = 7.50 (25%off)
Head & Shoulders Trial Size (x3) – .97 each – $3/2 coupon from todays insert = 1.06 toward the rest of my stuff!
All Small and Mighty (x2)- 3.99 – 1.50/1 Target coupon + $1/1 Manf. = 1.50
Pantene Shampoo/Cond. Long&Strong (x2) – 3.79 each (7.58 for 2) – $1/2 Targ.Coup. + $2/1 + $2/1 = 2.58 for both (1.29 each)
Bounty Paper Towels 8pk (x2) – on sale for 6.49 – $1/1 Target Coupon + .25/1 Manf. Coup. = $5.24

I also got some blackout drapes for 7.99 each for the upstairs bedrooms. (Thanks for the info Sarah!) They block out light and can help lower the temperature in your house by up to 5 degrees (wthout using any electricity!). I got some panels for the downstairs sliding door too (on sale for 17.99 from 34)…hopefully I can get that ugly wooden thing and the broken blinds down! Along the lines of being green – I cleaned out one side of my garage so I can put my car in it. That way I don’t have to start the car to let it cool down before putting the kids in…it was getting so hot that their carseats would have burned them if I didn’t! I also took my reusable shopping bags with me…although I had to use plastic as well – I saved at least 4 or 5 plastic bags. I always reuse my plastic bags too.
Anyway, I’m pretty pumped! Hopefully Eli will be feeling well enough to go to Homeland tomorrow!

I went to Walgreen’s last night and it took awhile, because I was getting prescriptions and I tend to wander, but I saved a LOT of money!
I ended up getting :
2 Powerade (32 oz) – Sale .89/ea + 1$/1 = .22 overage
3 Quattro Razors – Sale 5.99 + B1G1 MC + 2$/1 MC + 2$ off Easy Saver coupon = 2$ each (I should have just gotten 2, but I didn’t think it was worth the trip back to return it, and 2$ is pretty good for those)
2 Gas-x Chewables (18pk) – Free (They should have been .99, but the register wouldn’t take my coupons and something the cashier did made them free)
1 Maalox Childrens Chewables – Sale 3.19 + 2$ Easy Saver Coupon + 2$ MC = .81 overage
Zooth Electric Toothbrush for Audri – Sale 4.19 + 2$ MC = 2.19
2 VivePro HydraGloss Conditioner – B1G1 Walgreens Sale + B1G1 MC = Free
Palmers Diaper Rash Creme – 3.99 + 1$/1 Easy Saver Coupon = 2.99 (I really like it!)
So I spent 10.15 on that stuff and it would have been 62.88 regular price no coupons!!!
I’m waiting for some more Daily Oklahoman Coupons to come in the mail from Will’s grandparents so I’ll be going back for more Childrens Chewables, VivePro, Powerade, and Razors. Hooray for an awesome deal! This is the best I’ve ever done couponing…it was hard to go to sleep when I got home last night! Of course Eli decided to wake up to eat 3 times last night and Audri woke up early this morning, so I’m exhausted, but still very proud of my savings!!!!
Good Advice

I just received a 10$/1 coupon in the mail today! That will make up for the loss of the other 8pk. Thanks Energizer!
Ladybug Cupcakes

This is my trial run for the ladybug cupcakes I’m making for a baby shower. I think I’ll use different cake mix…strawberry was ok, but I could just dye a different kind. I’ll also use the gel icing dye so it’s redder and the icing doesn’t get quite so soft. I think they turned out great tho! I just used the store icing, strawberry with red dye and dark chocolate. The cupcakes themselves are strawberry with red dye, with mini chocolate chips. I think I’ll just do vanilla or chocolate cupcakes next time. Double Click the picture for a closer look!
The Police Are Your Friends

This was on my other blog – July 1st? – Sarah and Brandon have moved successfully…closing was a little rough, but it’s finished and after cleaning dried poop off the toilet seats (yay Erica!) they spent their first night in their new house!
That being said…
The cable guy came today for installation and seemed nice…but after he left he came back and banged on the door. Sarah figured he left something but he said his GPS was stolen, did she know who took it!? What?!? She said no and he went back to his car where he sat for about 20 minutes. She then saw him looking thru her windows!!! Then she called me and while we were talking he came back to the door asking for a description of who pulled into the driveway. He sat in the driveway 5 or 10 more minutes, during which time I told her to call the POLICE! They sent a patrol car to her neighborhood and then she called Cox. The police and cox told her to call 911 if he came back and they would have a car at her house in no time.
To all you women out there who are home alone during the day, don’t be afraid to call the police…they are your friends! And it is ALWAYS better safe than sorry!! I also told Sarah to go tell her neighbors what happened and ask them to keep an eye out.
Why does all the messed up stuff happen to Sarah?
